Eight years since it was established, The University of the Philippines Anime Manga Enthusiasts has come a long way, and is now one of the most recognized collegiate anime organizations in the Philippines. AME has provided the public with activities true to its initial goals; its members have continuously created and sponsored fun and unique events that shared the in-depth nature of anime and manga to the greater community.

Today, AME is at a growing stage, a critical stage. Eight years may not be long if compared to other organizations, but this period of time has made AME enter several changes. In these mere eight years, this organization has learned to be more dynamic – moving systematically with the flow of change, appropriately creating new ideas and adapting new ways of work and management.

However, it has come to my attention that it is too much of AME’s flexibility that threatens its core ideals. Of course, I do not wish to do away with its power to adapt to change nor to its faculty to accept new thoughts, yet, I want this organization to remember what rock it was built upon. I want the EXECOM and the General Assembly to be reminded of what our founding members stood for and strived for and when they decided to gamble their ideas to create a special interest organization in a tight academe. I want everybody to know why AME became AME, and that this fundamental knowledge is crucial in maintaining the organization successfully. For change will always be appropriately handled without compromising the organization’s core values if one reintegrates himself into not forgetting AME’s heart.


I am Julius Caesar Barredo, accepted into this organization as part of Batch 3sam (2003). I am running for the position of President, and here is my GPOA.
